It’s Sam Spector here, Neil’s stylist. I am happy to break the news that spring is finally here! (You probably noticed the flowers peeking up from the ground, buds on trees…but still, humor me.)
And with warmer temperatures on the horizon, so too are the season’s latest and greatest warm-weather style trends. With that in mind, we’re highlighting the hottest looks for spring. The good news? There’s a lot of crossover between
And with warmer temperatures on the horizon, so too are the season’s latest and greatest warm-weather style trends. With that in mind, we’re highlighting the hottest looks for spring. The good news? There’s a lot of crossover between traditional menswear and womenswear. But because I’m a men’s stylist, I’ve asked my pal Eliza Yerry, a brilliant women’s stylist, to share her take on the season’s key womenswear trends, too.
So whether you’re shopping for yourself, a loved one — whomever — it matters not…there’s a little something for everyone. And everybody.
PASTELS
For a long time, menswear has been dominated by neutrals — predominantly grays, navys and blacks. Those days seem mostly to be over, at least for the time being (fashion is cyclical, after all). Pastels, and color in general, are showing up in a variety of ways, from the pastel suit to sweatshorts. Think Easter egg colors to dye for.
COS oversized T-shirt $35
Alex Crane linen shirt $145
Sandro drawstring shorts $220
THE OVERSIZED SUIT
Women have been rocking this look for a while so it’s high time that the guys have some fun with proportions, too. We’re talking Justin Bieber at the Grammys the other night. Think ’80s power suit, but with a contemporary twist.
Zara double breasted suit jacket $149
Jacquemus viscose and linen-blend blazer $720
Ami Alexandre Mattiussi wool blazer $953
FLARED TROUSERS
Flared trousers are all the rage right now (or should we say, again). We understand that you may have reservations about parting with your beloved skinny jeans, but trust us when we say: once you go wide leg, you may never go back. The flare is a good middle-of-the-road option with a vintage feel that may or may not make you want to hit the dance floor, a la Saturday Night Fever.
Wrangler dress jean $39
Acne Studios ruffled wool and mohair-blend trousers $470
Celine Homme Prince of Wales checked wool trousers $1,050
LEATHER PANTS
Perfect for a night on the town, the leather pant is a classic…but also a Spring ‘22 essential. We’re a big proponent of the wide leg style in particular but, that said, a leather pant is a leather pant. If a slim fit is more your speed, we say go for it.
AG Dylan pant $989
Frame leather jogger $1,198
Ralph Lauren narrow-fit leather pant $1,600
TWO-TONED LOAFERS
The two-toned loafer is the perfect spring-forward shoe. It pairs well with a suit, jeans and just about anything else you can think of, too. Dress them up, dress them down, wear them with socks or don’t — they’re effortlessly cool and versatile, too.
Duke + Dexter penny loafer $293
Gucci loafer with tassel $880
John Lobb suede penny loafer $1,555
AND NOW FOR THE LADIES (OR THE LADIES IN YOUR LIFE)…
Hi, I’m Eliza Yerry, a stylist to some of the chicest (and coolest) women on Earth, such as Sara Bareilles, Laura Marano and Celia Keenan-Bolger. As Sam mentioned, a lot of spring trends are ubiquitous, across both menswear and womenswear. I’ve gathered up 3 of the biggest for the ladies. Without further ado, here are my three Cs.
COLOR
Sam had vibrant, pastel colors at the very top of his trend list. Same here! A lot of that can probably be chalked up to the amount of time we’ve spent indoors donning leisurewear — people are now looking to make a vestiary statement. Based on what I saw on the runways, vibrant and bold colors are all the way in for spring. Get ready to be inundated with neons and all other manner of bright colors, especially of the orange variety.
House of Want vegan leather shoulder bag $78
Miaou micro mini skirt $155
Rachel Comey field vest $325
CLOGS
Be prepared for a trip down memory lane with ‘70s-inspired chunky clogs. Though they’re a statement piece, they can elevate virtually any outfit. Yep, clogs are surprisingly versatile — and should be a welcome addition to your spring wardrobe.
Madden Girl faux fur-lined platform clog $37
Simon Miller vegan bubble clog $455
Area crystal-trimmed platform clog $1,034
CARGO (PANTS)
A soon-to-be staple of the spring, cargo pants are a great option for cool nights. And they’ve already been spotted on celebrities such as Rihanna, Bella Hadid, Kate Middleton and Hailey Bieber. They’re universally flattering, and if you choose to stuff the pockets, eliminate the need to carry a bag!
Lioness Miami Vice pant $99
Derek Lam utility jean $395
Victoria Beckham straight-leg utility trousers $590
Now that you’re guaranteed to look good, how about you do some good, and share Wondercade with your friends? There’s no more stylish move than introducing your pals to this weekly festival of fun.
