Many American homes come with a heritage tax.
It’s especially true in Hollywood: James Dean lifts leaves out of a modest hacienda’s pool once, years later the home goes on the market for $4M.
But nowhere is that pop-culture surcharge more prevalent than at 1011 N. Beverly Drive, a Mediterranean Estate in Beverly Hills. It’s the former home of William Randolph Hearst and the former honeymoon vacation estate of JFK and Jackie O. And it’s on the market right now for the (cue drink-spitting animation) price of $135M.
Originally built in 1927, “The Beverly House” sits on 3.5 acres and is accessible via an 800-foot driveway. It has 29 bathrooms, 19 bedrooms, dozens of balconies and at least a half dozen pissing cherubs. It’s an old-school “F you” house: pre-Depression era, Gatsby-meets-the-Pacific grandeur that hosted the Kennedys first after their marriage in 1953 and then again as JFK’s West Coast election HQ.
You don’t have to run the country while here, though: just enjoy the private pool and spa (both heated), tennis court, six fireplaces and four-car garage.
