Every year, two-time Oscar winner George Clooney plays the part of a adventurous tourist off screen.

The actor does so on a weeklong bike trip with friend Rande Gerber.

This year, Clooney and Gerber are preparing to ride through Spain. The pals founded a tequila business, Casamigos, together, which they later sold in a billion-dollar deal, and share neighboring homes in Mexico. Their previous motorcycle adventures have been through America, the Dolomite range in Italy, and Corsica.

“Sometimes we ride for 15 hours a day. We never know where we are going—we just get up in the morning and hit the road,” Gerber told Bloomberg Pursuits.

5 days and 2,500 miles. There’s no road too long with friends.

The duo likes to take the road less traveled. They pack a map and don’t use any sort of satellite navigation. They stay low-key and keep disguised under their helmets. The day usually ends in a bar, drinking with locals.

So how can you follow in their path? Bloomberg wants to help, so writer Jeremy Taylor and friend Ian Smith went to Spain to try out some potential routes.

Harley-Davidson’s Authorized Tours allow riders to rent bikes at more than 200 of their global showrooms. It is similar to renting a car, but you do need the appropriate license.

Clooney and Gerber are starting in Málaga, where Harley-Davidson has a flagship store. They are avoiding the “Road to Hell” (aptly named due to dangerous traffic) and will instead head north. That route has been dubbed “biker heaven” — a series of jaw-dropping viewpoints and countless vistas of the Mediterranean.

Next, the Hollywood star could make a day trip east to visit the Alhambra, an iconic Moorish palace named a Unesco World Heritage site. This is more touristy, so the duo will have to dodge the thousands of people who come to view the site (and possibly inadvertently view celebrities).

From there, Taylor and Smith went to La Roda de Andalusia, heading towards the bullfighting capital of Ronda in Málaga, which they think will be a must-see for Clooney. It is one of the most remarkable cities in Spain, with cobbled streets, sitting above a deep ravine and surrounded by valleys.

In general, Spain offers plenty of mountain roads for exploration. And there is of course the sherry capital of Jerez.

Finally, Taylor and Smith went to Andalusia, which boasts the roads and the scenery to attract any biker.
