If you, like us, blew through Netflix’s insane Tiger King series in less than a week and are hungry for more, you’re in luck: Kate McKinnon is slated to play Big Cat Rescue’s Carole Baskin in an upcoming scripted series.
The Universal Content Productions project was actually announced back in November, long before Tiger King premiered, and it’s based on the Wondery podcast Joe Exotic: Tiger King. The Saturday Night Live cast member is attached to play Baskin, but there’s currently no word on who is slated to play Joe Exotic. (Though Dax Shepard officially threw his hat into the ring on Twitter the other day.)
If I don't get cast as Joe Exotic in the eventual biopic, Hollywood is broken.

Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison for attempting to hire a hitman to murder Baskin. The two feuded for years over Exotic’s treatment of his tigers, which included illegal breeding and controversial “cub petting” photo ops.
The scripted series is reportedly still in development, and it currently has no network or streaming platform attached to it — though, given the success of Tiger King, we’re willing to bet it’ll get snatched up pretty soon.
Beyond playing Baskin, McKinnon is also slated to portray controversial Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in an upcoming Hulu limited series called The Dropout.
