Despite the fact that Hope Hicks is one of President Donald Trump’s staunchest supporters, and his longest-serving non-blood-relative aide, she successfully stays out of the spotlight, preferring instead to let her boss take the whole stage. But recently, Hicks has been getting noticed, and not for her actions, but for her clothes, reports Vanity Fair.
Hicks made headlines when she took over as communications director in September but since then, has been mostly behind the scenes. However, some tabloids have picked up on the recent deviations to her normal “feminine-to-sexless style that D.C.’s office-dwelling women must wear,” as Vanity Fair puts it. For example, Hicks wore a tuxedo to the state dinner in Japan last week, along with pink lipstick and blown out hair.
On November 8, The Daily Mail, wrote a headline stating, “Hope Hicks stuns in a grey sweater as she sits with Melania and Jared Kushner at South Korea National Assembly, while a tired-looking Ivanka leaves home clutching a large coffee 7,000 miles away.” The magazine also published pieces titled, “Soon after that, she’s “Letting the First Lady shine!” — which Vanity Fair says is the opposite of a compliment — and “A vision in florals!”
The Daily Mail is not the only one paying attention to her style changes. Hollywood Life published an article titled “Move over, Melania Trump!” followed by one titled “Hope Hicks Relegated to Baggy Shirt & Ponytail After Upstaging Melania Trump,” reports Vanity Fair.
Vanity Fair writes that it is an interesting time for who is seen and not heard in Trump’s administration, as Robert Mueller is likely to interview Hicks soon as part of the Russian investigation.
