Ahead of the release of their 2020 Spring/Summer collection, Noah Clothing posted a graphic to Instagram that simply read “WE ARE NOT A SUSTAINABLE BRAND.” The brand has always been cognizant of the strain the fashion industry puts on the environment, and has worked to address those problems, specifically by using recycled, renewable and eco-friendly materials in both their products and packaging. But in adhering to their ethos of total transparency, the brand took to Instagram to admit they’re not doing enough.
So for their latest collection, Noah has recommitted to 1% for the Planet, an international program that encourages businesses to contribute one percent of their annual sales to help support grassroots environmental organizations.
The brand’s commitment to sustainability and ethically made clothing is evident in the lookbook for their S/S 2020 collection, which featured beach appropriate looks accompanied by environmental facts and tidbits relating to the state of our oceans (did you know that the world’s fish stocks have been steadily declining and as a result, we could be without fish as soon as 2050?).
And, as for the clothes, they’re quintessential Noah: two-toned pleated pants, pastel rugby shirts, colorblocked windbreakers and their ever-popular Noah tees, now featuring new variations of their logo. Some notable pieces from the collection are these Camo Single-Pleat Pant, in a black and white pattern that resembles Keith Haring squiggles, or this Rugby Chore Jacket, the classic silhouette in a bold striped pattern.
The collection hasn’t been released in full, but you can shop the first of the releases below.
