Montblanc enters the smartwatch market with the Summit, the first from the Richemont family of luxury brands to release such a product.
At $890, the Summit is aiming to compete with the likes of the Hermes Edition of the Apple Watch and TAG Huer’s Connected Watch.
It’s a versatile piece of wearable tech that could easily pass for an ordinary, albeit stylish watch. The Summit comes in titanium, black stainless steel, or a bicolor choice that’s a mix of both. Much like other smartwatches, Montblanc offers seven strap options in a range of styles.
Tucked inside a classic analog design, Montblanc built its smartwatch using Google’s Android Wear 2 software (but it’s compatible with iOS devices too). Armed with 4GB of flash storage, a heart rate monitor, barometer, and sapphire glass touchscreen display, the smartwatch provides all the usual features like playing music, fitness tracking, and turn-by-turn navigation.
The Summit is expected to hit stores in early May, but is available exclusively through Mr. Porter for the first two weeks.
