With still a month proper left of summer, we can confidently say that Filson has released the year’s best workwear collection.
Just launched today, the Pacific Northwest brand’s (founded 1897) 12-piece workwear collection, dubbed C.C.F., celebrates the generations since “Clinton C. Filson sold his first wool coat to a stampeder hoping to strike it rich in the Klondike Gold Rush.”
And despite the currently trendy appeal of tactical garb and outerwear, prices are super reasonable, from $24 for the Acrylic Watch Cap to $295 for the Arctic Down Parka. The pieces here are made to suit workers of all stripes and colors, whether working on a farm in your writer’s native Oregon or slinging lattes in her current hometown of Brooklyn, since nothing needs context to exist here.
The tightly woven heavyweight cotton duck canvas, reinforced panels and triple-stitch construction give you a first line of defense against the elements, while Filson’s generous guarantee of its products the second.
And so we don’t show up wearing the same thing, we’ll say right now we’re eyeing the work bibs, utility jacket and canvas pants. Because summer heat advisory notwithstanding, we admire good craftsmanship, and would gladly pack these items into our seasonal camping-trip rotation — or the odd tree-felling, barnraising or wabbit-hunting sesh when the mercury falls.
