Ready to feel old? After the 2020 NFL Draft concluded on Saturday, one of the first roster moves for the pool of unsigned free agents came out of Washington, where the Redskins signed Thaddeus Moss, the national championship-winning son of former NFL legend Randy Moss.

The younger Moss transferred to LSU in 2017, sat out a year, and then had to sit out another with a broken metatarsal in his foot. When he finally got on the field for the Tigers, he was electric; Moss broke the school records for most catches and receiving yards in a season by a tight end, with 47 and 570, respectively. He also added four touchdowns, including two in the national championship game, which LSU won 42-25 over Clemson.

While his dad was a heralded prospect coming out of college, eventually going to the Minnesota Vikings with the 21st pick in the 1998 draft, Thaddeus Moss will have a harder time sticking in the NFL. However, Washington is in dire need of tight end talent, so this might be the perfect landing spot for him to make his own mark on the league.

In an intriguing coincidence, Moss will also play with one of his dad’s old teammates. Running back Adrian Peterson briefly played with Randy Moss during the 2010 season, when the receiver was traded back to his original team by the New England Patriots. Peterson signed with Washington in 2018, and has put up nearly 2,000 rushing yards over the past two seasons.
