Up-and-Coming Daredevil Skateboarder Killed by Truck

Pablo Ramirez, a professional skateboarder, was struck and killed by a dump truck in San Francisco’s South of Market district on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.

“Officers who arrived on the scene found a commercial vehicle that was involved in a collision and a skateboarder who was suffering from life-threatening injuries,” said San Francisco police spokesman officer Robert Rueca.

A native New Yorker, 26-year-old Ramirez was a member of the GX-1000 skate crew, which GQ referred to as the “most fearless crew in skateboarding.”

Crew members converged on the scene after the accident to mourn.

Following the news of Ramirez’s death, Thrasher magazine posted a tribute to him on Instagram.

“He was one of the happiest, most positive people I have ever met,” said Tony Vitello, the owner of the magazine, told The San Francisco Chronicle. “He was just exploding with energy, overflowing with life. It was infectious. He would just be so pumped up to see you. He was just that stoked all the time.”
