Pablo Ramirez, a professional skateboarder, was struck and killed by a dump truck in San Francisco’s South of Market district on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
“Officers who arrived on the scene found a commercial vehicle that was involved in a collision and a skateboarder who was suffering from life-threatening injuries,” said San Francisco police spokesman officer Robert Rueca.
A native New Yorker, 26-year-old Ramirez was a member of the GX-1000 skate crew, which GQ referred to as the “most fearless crew in skateboarding.”
Crew members converged on the scene after the accident to mourn.

Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and reviewing security video to determine what happened before the fatal collision.
The driver of the truck has been cooperating with investigators and police do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal accident.
Ramirez was the 11th person to be killed by a vehicle this year in San Francisco.
