The NFL is having a hard year. They’re facing league-wide protests and lowered viewership. Commissioner Roger Goodell is under extreme scrutiny from league owners, fans, and even President Trump. The Ringer put together a list of people who might be available if things were to suddenly change.

Bob Iger

Iger is the CEO of Disney and has been thinking about retiring. Danny Heifetz says that becoming commisoner could be the perfect “retirement package.” He was essential in bringing the Rams to Los Angeles. However, it is rumored that he’s looking to run for President in 2020.

The Rock

He’s respected, he’s played, he’s well-liked. The Ringer writes that he understands the business side of the sport from a player’s point of view, which would be valuable.

Donna Brazil

Ryan O’Hanlon writes that the Democratic strategist’s book tour will probably be wrapping up right around when Roger Goodell’s current contract expires.

Colin Kaepernick

The Ringer writes that he’s the only person to “unify all 32 owners.”

Tom Brady

He’s been spreading some wisdom and has creative solutions, writes Shaker Samman.

Player-Elected Commission

Michael Baumann writes that the league should utilize the 32 owners and reconstitute the league as a worker’s collective.
