A player for one of the Premier League’s most famous clubs is in hot water over hosting a party during coronavirus quarantine. According to The Guardian, Everton forward Moise Kean hosted a gathering at his home, despite restrictions set in place by the United Kingdom government.
Though The Guardian report does not state when the party actually took place, it is clear that the club is furious with Kean, who they bought from Juventus just last summer. Everton will reportedly fine Kean two weeks of salary for the incident; he currently makes £80,000 a week, so the fine should reach £160,000. The report also states that the club will consider making Kean issue an apology for the party, which they called a “disappointment”:
Everton Football Club was appalled to learn of an incident in which a first-team player ignored government guidance and club policy in relation to the coronavirus crisis. The club has strongly expressed its disappointment to the player and made it clear that such actions are completely unacceptable. Everton has regularly stressed the importance of following all the government guidelines – including rules and advice for inside and outside of the home – through a series of official communications to all staff members, including players.
Just last month, both Everton and their city rivals Liverpool helped raise £50,000 for food banks in the Merseyside city, as the lockdown went into effect to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
