He is getting an almost unprecedented amount of money.

The Raiders are reportedly going to pay Jon Gruden $10 million a year for 10 years as head coach. Gruden left the Raiders back in 2001. SB Nation writes that every agent who represents a head coach should get excited because of what Gruden’s payday means for the market. His salary is the second-highest coach salary in the NFL. But it had to be high in order to get Gruden to agree and leave ESPN and Monday Night Football, where he was reportedly making upwards of $6.5 million per year. Bill Belichick still has the highest salary among NFL head coaches. He has gone to seven Super Bowls and has won five. The Patriots clearly think he’s worth the $12.5 million he supposedly makes per year. The Seahawks’ Pete Carroll was reportedly the second-highest-paid head coach at about $8 million per year before the Raiders decided to offer Gruden this deal. Gruden has won one Super Bowl, back in 2003. However, he has not coached since he was fired from the Buccaneers in 2009. Agents will, and should, push for whatever the market will bear for their clients, and the Raiders just changed the market.
