NBC fires Jeremy Roenick for Threesome Remarks About Kathryn Tappen

After suspending him in December for making tasteless and inappropriate comments about co-workers on a Barstool Sports podcast, NBC has decided to put hockey analyst Jeremy Roenick’s career at the network on ice.

Roenick, 50, announced NBC’s decision in a Twitter video labeled with the caption, “What a Joke!”

“I’m very disappointed and angry today (that) I will not be returning to NBC,” Roenick said in the video message. “And though disappointed, I am also grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to share my love, my passion, my knowledge of the game with millions of people, millions of fans and for that, I thank you. Even though I’m leaving NBC, I will not be gone for long. I’ll be back better and more motivated than ever to bring you the best entertainment and the best that I have for the game of hockey. I’ve seen all the support, I’ve read all the support, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, it’s overwhelming and for that, I can’t wait to see you soon.”

NBC opted to suspend Roenick in December for making comments about his co-workers on Barstool’s Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, including insinuating that he’d wanted to have a threesome with his wife and his fellow analyst Kathryn Tappen when they were all in Portugal together.

“I was the king of Portugal,” Roenick said on the podcast. “When you walk into every place and you have two blond bombshells on each side … your chest pops out a lot more.”

When Roenick was asked if his wife and Tappen were both with him, he replied, “Yes, they are.”

“And then Kathryn says, ‘Will you shut up?’ She starts yelling at me,” he said. “I play it off like, you know, we’re going to bed together every night, the three of us. Now, if it really came to fruition, that would really be good, but it’s never going to happen.”

After he was suspended last month, Roenick did apologize to his co-workers.
