It didn’t take long for Brooks Koepka to take a shot at Bryson DeChambeau after the latter parted ways with the longtime looper who has been advising him about his putts on the golf course just hours before the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.

On Thursday, DeChambeau told ESPN’s Michael Collins that he and caddie Tim Tucker are “taking a break” and that the two “are going to take some time apart.” As anyone who has ever seen Friends or been in a relationship of any consequence knows, “taking a break” is never what it seems and all indications are that Tucker may have been fired or even quit outright. But, as of now, both sides are playing it nice and saying the split was mutual.

“They had a good run, and they mutually agreed yesterday afternoon to go their separate ways,” DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, told GolfChannel.com. “Everything runs its course. Tim was getting tired and Bryson was getting tired. In any relationship, they run their course, and that’s what happened here. It wasn’t one specific issue. It was a culmination. Like any caddie-player relationship, they had their ups and downs. They wish each other nothing but the best and will always be there for each other.”

Not wasting any time to take a shot at his rival as part of their ongoing feud (and possible bid to take home millions via the PGA’s Player Impact Program), Koepka paid tribute to his caddie Ricky Elliott on Twitter.

Koepka then declared the 1st of July to be “Caddie Appreciation Day.”

Tucker, who has been on the bag for all eight of DeChambeau’s PGA Tour victories, will be replaced by Cobra Golf’s tour operations manager Ben Schomin. DeChambeau is the returning champion at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, an event he obviously won when Tucker was his caddie.
