To keep tabs on every New York restaurant and bar opening is folly. But to keep tabs on the most worthy? Yeoman’s work, and we’re proud to do it. Thus we present Table Stakes, a monthly rundown of the five (or so) must-know spots that have swung wide their doors in the past thirty (or so). Bon appétit.

It should come as no surprise that David Chang’s new project takes top billing in the world of NYC restaurant news this month.

What may come as a surprise is that said project does not actually involve a restaurant. It involves Chang bringing delicious, ready-to-eat dishes to your home.

Because Chang is now the centerpiece of a culinary hydra (which also features ABC Kitchen’s Dan Kluger and Mark Ladner of Del Posto) behind just-launched food delivery app Maple.

They started dropping meals yesterday in the FiDi. They will be expanding very, very rapidly. Thus it behooves a fella to jump on the waitlist now.

For those still looking to dine out as well (see: everyone), April brought a nice little dose of fusion cuisine.

The meat mavens at Mexicue finally brought their smoky/spicy combo downtown with a full-service joint in NoMad.

Filipino met New American in Williamsburg; stellar brunch ensued.

Oh, and Asia de Cuba, a pioneer of the gustatory mashup, returned in Nolita. And damned if that avocado fried rice isn’t better than ever.

So dine on, and drink well, friends.

Enjoy the guide.
