Here’s a piece of helpful style advice:
If you’re always keeping up with the Joneses, you’ll never get ahead of ‘em.
But if you keep up with the Japanese, aha. Now that’s a horse of another color.
And for that pursuit, we present Ring Jacket: some of the most handsome and rare suits a man can wear.
There are exactly two places you can find Ring Jacket on U.S. soil: Khaki’s of Carmel (that’s in Cali) and the Armoury NYC, now selling Ring’s spring line.
Born in ‘54, Ring Jacket is an Osaka tailoring house that specializes in suits that combine Italian tailoring with American swagger.
The Armoury, meanwhile, is a Hong Kong menswear Mecca that cut the ribbon on its first U.S. crib (corner of Duane and Hudson) in December.
Together, they’ve collab’d on a line of jackets, suits and chinos that’ll keep you cool and dry this spring.
To wit:
-
The AMJ 03, an Armoury-exclusive, super-light plaid blazer with soft shoulders and a crisp, rigid body that won’t cling to your skin.
-
An unlined navy blazer made from a lightweight wool/linen blend dubbed “fresco.” Hold it up to the light. Yep, practically transparent.
-
And the AMP chino, also an Armoury exclusive. Relaxed-but-tailored fit, light wash. Great for weddings and summer Fridays.
Oh, and even though it’s not seasonally appropriate, grab the A-1 Blouson in grey.
Because it ain’t summer just yet.
Nota bene: The Armoury still has their winter garments on the rack. Spring collections should be out next week. Ask nicely and they’ll pull ‘em out early for you.
