Rule no. 352:

If attending a glamorous annual gala like Lake Como’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, dressing to impress is paramount.

French cuffs, dinner jackets and bow ties are customary. Waistcoats optional but encouraged. As for choice of color, most will wear black, although a creamy white or midnight blue is acceptable.

Oh, unless your name is Aston Martin. In that case, go for a thunderous candy apple red. And don’t forget to smile.

The fifth example of the British automaker’s longstanding affiliation with Italian coachbuilder Zagato Milano, the Vanquish Zagato Concept unveiled earlier this week features a seemingly seamless body made of large, one-piece carbon fiber panels, a sculptural rear end with a retractable spoiler and a quad-exhaust nestled snugly in its underbelly.

In addition to having an upgraded six-liter V12 with 600 ponies under the hood, the Vanquish features the same “bladed” LED technology that was installed in Aston Martin’s track-only supercar, the Vulcan.

Should the concept ever comes to market (please make this one happen, Santa), it’s going to be a very prudent investment.
