Some great things have staying power.

Axl and Slash, despite all the hoopla surrounding this summer’s reunion tour, are probably not one of them.

But another reclamation project — this one involving 25 Land Rover Series 1s — definitely is.

Similar to the way Jaguar-Land Rover Classic previously announced its Jaguar XKSS continuation series, the division is doubling down on heritage models and will be restoring 25 handpicked Series 1 4x4s as part of the “Reborn” initiative.

Each of the vintage Land Rovers will be outfitted with classic parts and restored to original 1948 factory specifications at the original Defender production center in Solihull before being painted in one of five period finishes (light green, bronze green, RAF blue, dove grey, poppy red).

The Reborn initiative represents the Classic division’s “commitment to supporting customers with original and meticulously sourced parts for Land Rover models that have been out for production for longer than 10 years,” according to director Tim Hannig.

The restorations will take up to nine months and prices for the factory-backed and warrantied rebuilds will likely be north of $100k.

Smart money says they’ll outlast the cold November rain.
