Just days before Woodstock 50 tickets sales were due to begin on April 22, the concert’s organizers abruptly postponed the release date with no official reason given.
The concert, scheduled for August 16-18 this summer in Watkins Glen, New York, has announced a star-studded line-up that includes artists like Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons, Chance the Rapper, The Killers, Halsey, and Santana among dozens of others. But Pitchfork has confirmed that as of Friday, April 19th, the concert had yet to secure the necessary event permits from the New York State Department of Health.
To allay fears that Woodstock 50 could befall the same fate as the infamously disastrous Fyre Festival of 2017, festival organizer Michael Lang told Billboard that any talk of cancellation is merely unfounded “rumors.” But as of now, no timetable for issuing a permit has been announced by the state authorities, and no tickets can be sold until that happens.
