Maybe it was “God’s Plan” after all.
Canadian rapper Drake is the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify, according to a report by music site Chart Data.
Even without a new album, Drake is a constant: He currently has 41 million+ monthly listeners (which is 12th in the world) and nearly 41 million followers.
Most streamed artists of all time on Spotify (by lead artist credit):
#1 @Drake
#2 @edsheeran
#3 @Eminem
#4 @ArianaGrande
#5 @PostMalone
#6 @justinbieber
#7 @theweeknd
#8 @rihanna
#9 @coldplay
#10 @Imaginedragons— chart data (@chartdata) September 26, 2019
Other all-time artists feature some surprises: Eminem was seemingly more popular a few years prior to the streaming service’s launch, yet he still comes in at number three. Post Malone, a relatively new artist with fewer than 60 total songs available to stream, is ranked number five and actual guitar-based rock bands Coldplay and Imagine Dragons also cracked the top 10.
Officially launched in 2008, Spotify officially hit 100 million paid subscribers early this year, part of the streaming service’s 217 million monthly active users. Chart Data, meanwhile, is a rather mysterious, nerdy and Cardi B-approved stats site for music chart geeks that’s run by an unnamed one-man operation.
