Good news for Grace fans: Variety reports that there’s a new Jeff Buckley biopic in the works, and it has the full support of the late singer-songwriter’s estate and access to his music.
Everybody Here Wants You will feature Reeve Carney as Buckley. Carney is a Broadway veteran perhaps best known for playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. He also had a recurring role in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful.
The film will be directed by Orian Williams, an Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated producer whose credits include Control, the 2007 biopic about Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. Everybody Here Wants You will be his directorial debut.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to step into the director’s seat to tell Jeff’s story,” Williams said in a statement. “Dionne Jones’ beautiful script brings together all the elements of Jeff’s life into one intimate and visual story.”
Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, will also serve as a producer on the movie. “This will be the only official dramatization of Jeff’s story which I can promise his fans will be true to him and to his legacy,” Guibert said in a statement. “Thankfully, my determination to assemble all the right participants, no matter how long it took, is about to culminate in the best way possible.”
Filming on the project is slated to begin this fall.
