The notorious feud between Jack White and the Black Keys has been put to rest — or at least is currently lying dormant — for years now, but as Pitchfork points out, Wednesday’s episode of Jeopardy! included a reminder of the old beef.

A question in the show’s “Bands of the 21st Century” category addressed the dispute, with the clue stating, “Jack White has had some conflict with Dan Auerbach of this band whose name oddly mirrors the White Stripes’.” (Despite the Auerbach-specific nature of the clue, White has also gotten into it over the years with Patrick Carney.)

As of last year, however, the beef has been squashed. “I’ve actually gotten to know Jack the last six months, a little bit,” Carney told the Tennessean in June 2019. “This is a big month for rock and roll in Nashville with the Raconteurs record and our record.” White’s Third Man Records label also publicly congratulated The Black Keys on their new album Let’s Rock that year, tweeting out a link to the song “Lo/Hi” and writing, “More evidence that Nashville rock n roll is alive and well. Congrats on the new music, @theblackkeys!”

Beyond being a Jeopardy! clue, White was recently the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, and the White Stripes’ greatest-hits album is slated to be released Dec. 4.
