Overheard at juice bars across Hollywood:
“You should eat fewer things with faces.”
Here to help you do that: Gracias Madre, now plating leafy Mexican cuisine in WeHo.
Brought to you from the Cafe Gratitude guys, Gracias Madre is a ranchero’s manse of vaulted rafters, Oaxacan cement tiles and pillows upholstered in 1940s serapes.
This is where to go with your friends to either start the night or recover from it. You’ll love the imaginative flautas de camote — crispy rolled tacos packed with sweet potatoes and caramelized onions and topped with cashew cheese, guac, cilantro and pico de gallo (see full menu).
And in the event you don’t have to drive home, there are nearly 100 mezcals and tequilas behind the bar, plus cocktails as refreshing as they are effective (see full menu).
Vaya con vegans, amigos.
