Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: a hot new blender, Harrington jackets from Entireworld and candles for those who miss their offices.
Grummies Superfood Vitamin Gummies
We all know we should be eating more superfoods — the health benefits of things like tumeric, ashwagandha and apple cider vinegar are myriad and well-documented. Problem is, they usually taste … not great. Enter Grummies, who bill themselves as “part of a widespread conspiracy to trick you into being healthy” via a suite of superfood vitamin gummies that are super tasty, made from organic, non-GMO ingredients and free from the typical sugary chemical BS typically found in vitamin gummies.
Alpha Industries x NASA Capsule Collection
We tend to nerd out pretty hard for Alpha Industries’ regular collabs with the space program, and this one is no different — the new drop features a reversible bomber celebrating the Apollo program (the interior features a graphic print of Neil Armstrong’s first footprint on the Moon), as well as hoodies/crewnecks/tees with prints of photos taken via NASA’s Viking 1 Mars lander as well as the Apollo 11 Moon landing mission.
Zegna Triple Stitch Sneaker
A handsome pair of slip-on sneakers is a must-have for spring — clean, classic, versatile. Zegna has you well and truly covered with their new Triple Stitch Sneaker, which comes in a whole of fabrications, from calfskin to suede to deerskin to canvas (not to mention more hues than you can shake a Pantone card at). Lightweight, comfy and with an elevated aesthetic that’ll play well with everything from a casual T-shirt-and-shorts getup to a smartly tailored suit (and loads of ensembles in between).
WM Brown x Goodlife Short Sleeve Sweatshirt
We’ve been huge fans of both WM Brown and Goodlife since their respective inceptions, so naturally we were well chuffed to learn they had teamed up on a criminally underrated piece of spring menswear: the short-sleeve sweatshirt. With raglan sleeves and a streamlined silhouette, its got a vintage athletic vibe that feels sporty but contemporary and is perfect for weekend wear.
Floatride Energy GROW
Continuing its sustainability efforts, Reebok launched the Floatride Energy GROW — a plant-based running shoe built for high performance. The sustainable shoe combines the brand’s award-winning Forever Floatride Energy model with eco-friendly materials. You still get the lightweight, responsive cushioning and durability of a high-efficiency running shoe but with pretty cool plant-based materials like a castor bean midsole, algae sockliner and eucalyptus upper.
Hu Grain-Free Cookies
Mission-driven snacking company Hu recently expanded its clean-label, paleo/primal ingredient snack offerings with Hu Grain-Free Cookies, a line of new grain-free, no-added-sugar cookies in Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle and Ginger Snap flavors. And we get it, healthier snack options do not always taste as good as the non-healthy snack options, but we’ve recently tasted these Hu cookies for ourselves and may or may not have eaten an entire bag of snickerdoodles in one sitting.
Entireworld Organic Cotton Poplin Harrington Jacket
If you’re still in search of the perfect spring jacket, look no further than Entireworld’s latest piece of outerwear, which offers their take on the iconic Harrington silhouette. The jacket is made using a super lightweight 100% organic cotton poplin that is so light it’ll feel like you’re not wearing anything at all. Choose between a classic navy and something a little bolder in the lemon yellow shade.
Salomon XT-6
If you’re trying to pick up a pair of XT-6s from Salomon’s website this weekend, you’ll be out of luck, as the sneakers are only available in one size and one color. What gives? In short, the shoes have become a favorite of runners looking to tackle any terrain as well as a certain set of hypebeasts who haven’t run a mile since high school. Luckily, Huckberry just debuted an exclusive colorway that’s actually available — though sizes are already going.
Filson Dry Bags
Who wants a measly water-resistant bag when you can get one of these new beefy waterproof dry bags from Filson? The outdoor outfitter released a few new options this week, including the Roll-Top Tote (which comes in flame orange), and the green Waist Pack and Sling Pack, all of which have us planning summer adventures on bodies of water near and far.
Clarks Desert Boot 221 Sand Suede
In honor of the brand’s 70th anniversary, Clarks has at last decided to ever-so-slightly reinvent the iconic Desert Boot with the new 221 version. One look at the shoe and the way in which is differs from its predecessor is immediately obvious: the sole. Still made from crepe rubber, Clarks has added a couple inches of heft to the sole of the 221, in turn making for a more substantial, chunkier boot. The shoes remain as wearable as ever, still keeping their ranking as the ultimate warm-weather boot, yet made even more appropriate for the warmer months thanks to their unlined interior.
Baboon to the Moon Elemental Collection
We haven’t been shy about our love for the travel bags from eccentric brand Baboon to the Moon. But after initially launching with a collection of duffels lined with wacky patterns, they went the safe route: solid colors. Thankfully they’ve returned to their roots with the new Elemental collection, which includes black, purple and “wasabi” colored bags lined with a limited-edition graphic. Making a post-COVID travel list? Don’t forget your gear.
Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance
Aimé Leon Dore’s recent collaboration with New Balance leaned heavily into the latter’s basketball heritage, in turn offering a collection laden with retro-athletic wares. As expected, the collection includes the still highly sought-after New Balance 550s, now in new vintage-inspired color ways, a silhouette that was all but retired until Teddy Santis retrieved it from the shoe brand’s archives. While the sneakers are the obvious stars of the collaboration, the apparel is not to be slept on, consisting of satin varsity jackets, reversible jerseys, warmup shirts reminiscent of the 90s. Not to mention a Nalgene water bottle for staying hydrated on and off the court.
Echo Buds (2nd Gen)
Amazon seems like they’re striking a nice balance between quality and price with their second-generation Echo Buds. Available for pre-order, the updated earbuds start at $100 for now and go up incrementally in price based on the charging case (a wireless charging case will add $20, for example). The updated Echo Buds are 20% smaller than their predecessor and offer hands-free access to Alexa — if you read the Amazon press release, you’ll notice Alexa capabilities are front-and-center. As well, these new buds offer better Active Noise-Cancelling capabilities; Amazon claims the ‘buds cancel twice as much sound as their first-gen model (a Passthrough Mode allows the outside world in a bit more).
Beast Blender
Isn’t this just the sexiest blender you’ve ever laid eyes on? Founded by one of the creators of NutriBullet, appliance startup Beast Health has recently launched the Beast. It’s an extremely elegant but extremely powerful personal blender thoughtfully designed to deliver nutrient-rich smoothies and other infusions all while looking crazy hot on your countertop.
Tombolo “Fruta de la Tierra” Cabana
“I’m probably biased because these are my alma mater’s colors, but hot damn is Tombolo on fire these days. This new cabana shirt, a collab with Vasquiat co-designed with their super stuylish founder Blanca Miró, is fixing to be the workhorse of my Summer of Freedom — ’70s collar, terrycloth construction, kitschy fruit pocket embroidery … there is literally nothing to not like about this shirt.” -Danny Agnew, Creative Director
Eau D’Office by R/GA
Miss the smell of breakfast leftovers in the break room? Sushi Thursday in the cafe? The smell of warm printer paper or the half-empty White Claw from Thursday Happy Hour? Well, if you’re like us and desperately miss all the weird and oftentimes gross smells from our offices, design agency R/GA has a line of nostalgic candles to help us through. As reported by Fast Company, creative directors Katie Facada and Thibault Gerard launched Eau D’Office as a goodbye gift to their colleagues, but it became such a hit they made the candles available to everyone — for free. That’s right you can get your very own candle that smells like “a bold bouquet of bacon egg and cheese after a 20-hour edit” or one with “bourbon base notes, White Claw middle notes and Cheetos top notes.” Just fill out this form.
Outerknown Second Spin Polos
Kelly Slater’s clothing brand Outerknown was founded on sustainable principles, with the professional surfer writing that “sustainability is why the company exists.” Enter: The new Second Spin collection, which the brand is calling its first “circular” line. What does that mean? For these polos, the first men’s style for the collection, they’re not only made of 20% recycled cotton, but they include QR codes which you can scan to see “who made it, where it was made, all material inputs, how to care for it, and resale / recycling recommendations.” Expect more Second Spin releases throughout April and May.
Persol 714 Steve McQueen
It’s no secret that Steve McQueen was a fan of Persol, helping to propel the brand to icon status, and in celebration of their most famed wearer, they’ve released a special edition Steve McQueen series consisting of five foldable shades, including a limited-edition pair. The collection also features a yellow version inspired by a Boeing Stearman, the first plane McQueen ever piloted, with the limited-edition pair featuring platinum-plated lenses and light havana frames.
Bulleit x Cocktail Courier A Sip of Paradise
Let’s drink to Earth Day! This collaboration finds the whiskey brand and the cocktail delivery service teaming up for a cocktail kit — housed within a compostable setup, natch — with whiskey, citrus stock culled from discarded fruit hulls and a pineapple cordial “born from the remains of the juicing process.” Even the recipe/cocktail tips card is printed on seed paper. Part of the proceeds here benefit the organization American Forests.
