Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: super luxurious leather fridges, a flame-resistant coverall and a stackable charging system.
Devialet Altice Amplify
If you’re a young, hip and cool smart-speaker guy rather than an old, out-of-touch and decidedly uncool traditional stereo system guy (hello!), you may want to look into this all-in-one option from Altice, featuring audio technology from Devialet. It comes with Alexa pre-loaded, it looks great, and it’s spec’d to the high heavens.
OtterSpot Wireless Charging System
Some of us on staff here at InsideHook are very, very easily confused when it comes to all the fancy new chargers out there right now (by “right now” we mean “in the past five years”), but we are going to bat for this one nonetheless. You can stack up to three of them on top of one another so they’re always charging each other somehow? We don’t know! They can charge Qi-compatible devices, and they’ve got a USB-C port if you still need that kind of thing.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light”
The newest offering from Omega was designed in collaboration with pro golfer Rory McIlroy. It’s a new version of their classic Aqua Terra model, owing its “Ultra-Light” descriptor to the two different kinds of titanium featured in the case. It’s also got a super-cool crown that can be pushed into the case when not in use.
The Classic Pan From Material
Sure it looks like an ordinary pan but this one’s got secrets in its core — its copper core, specifically, which makes it among the best for heat-retention. Added layers of stainless steel give the pan its durability to stick around your kitchen for a while.
Away Daily Carry-On with Pocket
You know about Away. They’ve been taking over the overhead bin market with suitcases championed by us, your friends and the person sitting next to you for years. This is their most compact suitcase yet — a quick-trip roller ideal for expert travelers. It’s got all the touches you expect (durable shell, TSA-approved lock, 360-degree wheels) plus the packing power essential for all you frequent flyers (including a compression pad and removable accordion separator).
Air Inflatable Jetboard From Lampuga
A 2019 Red Dot Design award winner, The Air from Lampuga is a two-part electric surfboard: the main hull is inflatable via a pump and the 14 horsepower motor slides and locks in during inflation. Once assembled at the beach, hop on and ride it for up to 45 minutes at a time at speeds just over 30 MPH. But don’t worry, when you inevitably hit the water face first, the Bluetooth remote control has a kill switch.
Jenn Air Cuts & Burlesque Refrigerators
Jenn Air is redesigning luxury kitchens by adding a bit of texture to column fridges. Instead of your basic stainless steel front, pick from a collection of Italian leather refrigerator panels in Carbon, Cognac, Croc, and Caviar. But it doesn’t stop there; you can also upgrade the inside of your fridge with a wine-colored velvet lining for an additional $30,000 — it’s strange, we can’t think of anything else you could spend your money on.
Snow Peak Takibi Tsunagi
Japanese outdoor gear company Snow Peak has begun releasing its apparel collection for fall and winter, and the far and away standout is the Takibi Tsunagi. Is it a onesie? Coveralls? Something you can wear to your next Jumanji theme party? All of the above, we’d think. But while it resembles the workwear-inspired streetwear that’s taken over town, think of it more like streetwear-inspired workwear. It employs a “vintage aesthetic” but packs more pockets than you’ll know what to do with and is made from flame retardant material immersed in resin.
Oakley® NFL Eyewear Collection
If hats, jerseys and bumper stickers aren’t enough — your sunglasses can now get you into even more bar fights! The Oakley/NFL collection features a variety of sunglass styles with each team’s logo or name in the bottom right-hand corner that is so tiny no one may even notice or end up punching you in the face.
