Before he assumed the role of President and CEO at Benchmade Knife Co., Jon deAsis was completing a capstone project as part of his Executive MBA program at the University of Oregon. The topic of study? Launching a collection of world-class cutlery.

Months later, under Jon’s leadership, the Oregon knifemaker unveiled the 4001 Table Knife Set alongside the Meatcrafter hybrid blade, opening the door to a new class of knives that deviate from Benchmade’s traditional everyday carry options.

Today, that same award-winning cutlery line sees the addition of four new knives — a chef’s knife, utility knife, paring knife and multi-function knife — that embrace the brand’s well-established reputation for durability and design. Proudly made in America, each piece of the new collection is customizable to meet your needs in classic Benchmade fashion. As it stands, options include four different knife steels, three handle materials, two bolster metals and four pivot ring metals, one of which adopts 24K gold-plated stainless steel.

After handling the Station Knife for a few hours in the kitchen, Benchmade’s attention to detail is unmistakable. The all-black G10 handle offers incredible grip and comes complete with a blue sapphire stainless steel ring that adds a touch of sophistication to any cutlery set. Meanwhile, comfortable ergonomics deliver smooth handling and control whether I’m dicing vegetables or cleaving meat. Billed as a “minimalist workhorse,” the knife’s versatility makes it a reliable option from the backcountry to the backyard, and it’s one I’d recommend for the everyday culinary enthusiast. Oh, and Benchmade will sharpen this collection free of charge, forever.

Whether you’re in the market for a set of world-class cutlery or simply looking to treat the pandemic chef in your life, these are the only blades you’ll ever need.
