In partnership with Neiman Marcus

The transition from summer to fall is always a fun one from a sartorial standpoint. Heftier fabrics, cozier knits, artful layering — any gent who appreciates the art of dressing well knows that fall is a chance to display a whole new facet of personal style. This fall in particular, many of us will finally have the chance to get out there and show ourselves off again.
Thus, we’ve partnered with our friends at Neiman Marcus on Reintroduce Yourself, a handy guide to fall style featuring four different “hero” items. Each can be styled multiple ways for maximum versatility, and we’ve even tapped Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman Men’s Fashion Director Bruce Pask to lend a bit of wisdom on how to do so most effectively (check the quotes on the image sliders below).
Modeling said items are four men representing industries that have felt the squeeze over the past year and who are beyond excited to be welcoming everyone back and reconnecting with the people that make their respective enterprises sing. If you find yourself in the position to support one of their places of business, we highly recommend stopping in. Otherwise, just consider them stand-ins for the countless business owners all over the country who are deserving of our continued support.
Read on, dress well and we’ll see you back out there.
Steve Livigni is a renowned Los Angeles arts and hospitality guru whose previous projects include beloved Angeleno haunts Scopa Italian Roots, Dama and The Chestnut Club (among several others). Livigni’s current roster of projects includes celebrated taco shop Flaco, done. gallerie, private Arts District club RVCC, and Playa Vista’s Hotel June (pictured above), a gorgeous new Proper Hotels property where Livigni serves as Food and Beverage Partner.
Steve is doing double duty in Moncler’s signature puffer vest with the iconic tricolor stripe — a vest that, as you can see, works equally well as a stylish added layer to your work-casual fit on colder days (over the blazer is very much permissible) as it does as a statement piece when you’re shooting for a more traditional French ski chalet vibe (or you are actually at a ski chalet, French or otherwise).

Jamian Gayden, better known as J-Lektro, is a Chicago-born-and-bred DJ who has been producing his own tracks since the age of 12. Owing to a stint in England as a child, Jamian counts dance, house and garage music as influences, in addition to the blues, hip-hop and R&B that the Windy City has long been known for. Jamian is finally back out and helping Chicagoans to cut a rug in person again, playing events all over the city as well as a residency at The Four Seasons. Up next: “a couple of EPs and an album independently under my label ‘Level E’ by the end of the year.”
Jamian is styled out in what Ermenegildo Zegna calls an “overshirt” but we at InsideHook have always referred to (with reverence) as a “shacket.” A handsome combo of shirt and jacket, this one benefits from a butter-soft cashmere construction in a deep shade of walnut — the perfect piece to anchor a more tonal casual getup (particularly when it matches the leather on your sneakers) or add a bit of warmth and color to a darker, more evening-appropriate ensemble.
Special thanks to the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago for this extra handsome shoot location

H Woo Lee is a Los Angeles chef and recent USC grad who turned the lemons of the pandemic into lemonade via a now-wildly-popular Instagram feed on which his kitchen prowess and eclectic, multifaceted culinary sensibility (charcoal and squid ink powder fried chicken, anyone?) have helped him rack up almost 160,000 followers. A pop-up restaurant is next (presumably in the vein of the culinary tasting series H Woo was doing pre-COVID), followed by a proper brick-and-mortar spot for him to feed people day in and day out.
H Woo is sporting a pair of cozy suede mules (for the uninitiated, a “mule” is a shoe with no constraint around the heel, and they are very much enjoying a moment) from Moncler, which, thanks to a stately all-black colorway and snazzy silver buckle, will play just as well with an elevated getup for a night out on the town as they will a more casual sweatsuit when you’re kicking around the house or running to the store.

Kevin Beary is the award-winning beverage director at arguably the finest damn tiki bar in the continental U.S., Chicago’s legendary Three Dots and a Dash. The subterranean speakeasy in River North — named one of The World’s 50 Best Bars by Drinks International — has become a destination bar for craft cocktail enthusiasts the world over thanks to Beary’s encyclopedic spirits knowledge (he’s got his own private label rum in the works) and for his focus on the finest ingredients. And if you can’t make it in person, fret not — they’ve got bottled cocktails and kits to help you recreate the experience at home.
Kevin is rocking a pair of eye-catching hand-painted denim from Purple Brand, which we’re gonna go ahead right now and dub “statement jeans.” You can dress ’em up or dress ’em down (see below), but either way the key is to keep the remainder of your ensemble (relatively) muted and let the denim do the talking.
