Old Forester just announced a Prohibition-themed apartment getaway called “The Sleepeasy,” allowing whisk(e)y fans to get very up close and personal with their favorite bourbon for a few days.
The 153-year-old Louisville whisky brand (yes, they forego the “e” in their American whiskey) has set up a one-bedroom apartment adjacent to the Old Forester distillery on Whiskey Row in downtown Louisville, adorned with old-timey chess boards, vinyl records and memorabilia from Old Foresters’ archives (plus a full kitchen, washer/dryer and a queen-sized bed).
Each three-night booking at The Sleepeasy includes a personalized meet-and-greet with Old Forester’s Master Taster Melissa Rift, lessons on crafting cocktails, a tour and tasting at Old Forester Distillery and the opportunity to purchase limited-edition Old Forester whiskies including the 117 Series, President’s Choice and Birthday Bourbon.
Review: Old Forester’s New 117 Series Marks a Historic Moment in Whiskey
It’s the first bottle in the brand’s 150-year history to feature a woman’s signature. And the High Angels’ Share release is worthy of the moment.Speaking of rare Old Forester, this news coincides with the newest release in the distillery’s 117 series, called Warehouse H bourbon. Warehouse H honors the brand’s growth after World War II, when a four-story, eight-chamber warehouse was designed to be heat cycled in the winter when temperatures dropped below 60 degrees and the maturation process ceased. According to the brand, the result was “an unusual heat cycling profile with the 1st floor hitting the highest temperatures.” Warehouse H bourbon includes barrels pulled from that historic brick house, and consumers booking the Sleepeasy will get to taste Warehouse H and buy a bottle.
“The Sleepeasy is the ultimate experience for bourbon lovers,” says Master Taster Melissa Rift. “People will receive an insider look at the world’s first bottled bourbon – and this experience will take guests through Old Forester’s unique history. And the best part – it’s all for charity.”
All proceeds from “The Sleepeasy” benefit the Center for Women and Families, a non-profit that helps Louisville-area women and families in crisis by providing housing, support and safety from domestic violence.
Reservations for “The Sleepeasy” are available now for dates between March 1 — April 2 at $500/night.
