Back in 1980, everybody was trying to figure out “Who shot J.R.?” That is the Stetson-wearing J.R. Ewing, played by actor Larry Hagman, on the long-running TV soap opera Dallas. Now, you can buy his fictional home.
If you remember the show, it aired from 1978-1991 on CBS, and has been named to many best-of-TV lists. And given that pedigree, you may be interested to know that a rather large and expensive piece of “memorabilia” from the show has recently hit the market. You can now own one of the original properties that doubled as the Ewing compound.
Located in—you guessed it—Dallas, Texas, the 10,000-square-foot Georgian estate’s interiors were used during the pilot season for the Southfork Ranch (it also cameoed in the 1996 made-for-TV movie, Dallas: J.R. Returns). Although the home was given a complete facelift in 2003, the original front patio pillars still remain. It has five bedrooms, and is located in the exclusive Preston Hollows neighborhood.
A suspended staircase gives way to a living room and dining room. The home also includes a giant kitchen with an island; living room; billiards room and bar; home theater room; wine collection room; and library with a fireplace. The master bedroom has its own sitting room; fireplace; separate walk-in closets/dressing areas; and a huge bathroom, with views of the property below.
Outdoor amenities include a spacious back patio, creekside views, a four-car garage, swimming pool and spa, fire pit, and tennis courts.
The Dallas house is on the market for $12,950,000. To contact its listing agent or browse more of the property’s specs, click here. Take a visual tour of the home below. At the bottom, enjoy a video tour of the property as well.
