Movie release dates, book launches, concert tours and large-scale events have all been delayed due to COVID-19. Now, you can add high-profile automotive launches to that list — specifically, that of the eagerly anticipated 2021 Ford Bronco.
At Autoblog, Byron Hurd reports that production delays related to the pandemic have pushed the delivery date for 2021 Broncos to the summer. Hurd also reports that order banks for the new Broncos will open up in the middle of January, a month later than anticipated. The article notes that 190,000 Broncos have already been reserved; those who did so will need to confirm their order by March 19.
For auto enthusiasts who were eager to procure the Sasquatch package, which offers a number of options designed for off-roading, the delays mean even more bad news: the Sasquatch now won’t be available until 2022.
The 2021 Bronco has already accumulated a tremendous amount of hype, as well as plenty of acclaim from experts in the field. The degree to which Ford allows the Bronco to be customized has also drawn rave reviews — writing at Car and Driver in October, Colin Beresford noted that “this at times feels more like a Porsche configurator than one from Ford.” These delays may frustrate some; then again, if any vehicle was designed to handle bumps in the road, it’s this one.
