You’re not going to be able to cage the Faraday Future FF 91 — at least, not until it’s gone almost 400 miles. (And with “cage” in this case meaning “charge.” Hey, I’m not going to pass up an opportunity to make a Faraday cage reference.) The long-in-the-works electric vehicle took another big step forward this month with the EPA announcing the range the FF91 could get on a single charge, using 22-inch wheels.
The answer? 381 miles — or, approximately, the distance between New York City and Montreal.
And that might be a relatively low estimate, if Autoblog’s reporting on the subject is any indication. They cited an article in Green Car Reports indicating that the battery pack used for the EPA’s rating was 142 kwh. To date, the FF 91 has touted a 130 kwh battery pack.
If you head to Faraday Future’s website, the two versions of the FF 91 listed there both list an estimated range of 378 miles on 22-inch wheels. (That would be the FF 91 Futurist Alliance and the FF 91 Futurist.) The company also announced a resolution to an ongoing legal dispute and two agreements that could lead to up to $100 million in new financing.
That same announcement also refers to “ongoing discussions with potential financing sources for additional capital required to fund operations through the end of 2022 and beyond.” How that might impact the future of the FF 91 remains to be seen.
