Thanks to new patents which have come to light, we now have an indication of when UK-based vacuum cleaner giant Dyson will be bringing their electric car to market.
Dyson, which announced plans to build electric cars about two years ago, will be releasing an electric vehicle which will be a competitor to Tesla’s Model X in 2021, patents which were uncovered by Bloomberg indicate.
Filed about 18 months ago and just made public, the patents reveal an aerodynamic vehicle with a long wheelbase and an interior cabin with reclining seats.
Dyson, which also makes hair dryers and air purifiers in addition vacuums, does have experience working on motors, an attribute which could prove beneficial once it gets into the auto business.
The company plans to invest $2.6 billion into the vehicle, build a facility in Singapore to develop it and already has more than 500 people are working on the project.
In an email to staff members, company founder James Dyson said testing of the car would increase next month.
