The unveiling of Chevrolet’s highly anticipated eighth-generation Corvette went better than anyone could have expected. For potential buyers, they got a more powerful, more affordable and better-looking ‘Vette than we’ve seen in a long time. For Chevy, the entire team has been on a nonstop victory lap.
In fact, it’s been so successful that the 2020 Corvette Stingray is almost sold out. Yes, less than two weeks after the new mid-engine sports car was unveiled, reservations for the first model year of the vehicle are almost full.
The inconceivable news comes from Michael Simcoe, Vice President of Global Design at General Motors. “It’s nearly sold out,” Simcoe told Autoblog at this weekend’s Concours d’Elegance of America. “It’s so close that it’s bound to be sold out soon.”
Other details are scarce, such as how many Chevy will actually be producing in 2020 and exactly how many have been reserved. But as Autoblog writes, previous models of the car have “surpassed 30,000 sales in many of the better years.”
At Concours d’Elegance of America, attendees not only had the chance to see the C8 up close, if they were as moonstruck with the vehicle after seeing it in the flesh they were also able to reserve the car on the spot. Unfortunately, most people won’t have the same chance to get a real-life look before the 2020 model year is sold out.
If you’re interested in reserving one sight unseen, you can do so on Chevrolet’s website.
