A Hollywood A-lister may soon be involved in the fifth tier of English soccer.

According to multiple reports, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has been named as a potential investor in Wrexham AFC, a Welsh soccer team currently playing in English soccer’s fifth tier.

Along with Reynolds, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creator and star Rob McElhenney also has an interest in investing in the club.

Any agreement with Reynolds and McElhenney would involve an immediate investment in the team of about $2.5 million, Deadline reported.

“Talks with the proposed bidders will now continue and we are in a position to confirm the two people interested in investing in Wrexham AFC. Rob McElhenney is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter, best known as the creator of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” Wrexham said in a statement. “Ryan Reynolds is an award-winning Canadian actor, writer, producer and business entrepreneur whose credits include Marvel’s Deadpool. In due course, Mr. McElhenney and Mr. Reynolds will put forward their vision for Wrexham AFC and proposal for members to vote on at a second Special General Meeting.”

Wrexham has been fan-owned for nearly a decade, and any potential sale would need to be approved by a majority of Wrexham Supporters Trust members. Were that to happen, the Trust would relinquish control of running the club, according to the BBC. A vote is coming “in weeks rather than months,” Trust director Spencer Harris told the outlet.

Founded in 1864, Wrexham was relegated from the EFL in 2008 after 87 years as a Football League club.
