The NFL and Jay-Z have reached an agreement that has nothing to do with the superstar rapper performing at the Super Bowl.

In a bid to improve the league’s entertain offerings as well as bolster its social justice efforts, the NFL has made Jay-Z’s Roc Nation agency a co-producer of the Super Bowl halftime show in a deal that includes a commitment from both parties to amplify the NFL’s Inspire Change initiative.

Jay-Z said he believes Roc Nation will have “autonomy”  to produce the kind of entertainment it wants.

“I anticipate that there will be a lot of — with any big organization, in this building right here we have internal problems,” Jay-Z said, according to The Washington Post. “Anything that’s new is going to go through its growing pains. We put what we want to do on the table. The NFL agreed to it. So we’re gonna proceed with that as if we have a partnership.”

Besides handling recruiting talent for the Super Bowl halftime show, Roc Nation will select entertainers to perform in NFL content and at events throughout the season.

“The NFL and Roc Nation share a vision of inspiring meaningful social change across our country,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “We are thrilled to partner with Roc Nation and look forward to making a difference in our communities together.”

Goodell also added that he hopes Jay-Z will perform in the Super Bowl “sometime in the next several years.”
