After reaching an “amicable” agreement to be bought out of her contract for a reported $2.5 million last month, Jemele Hill is officially done at ESPN.
The controversial host confirmed she was leaving the network while simultaneously announcing it was her last day.
“When I started at ESPN in 2006, I had no idea that such a wonderful journey would take place over the next 12 years,” Hill said in a tweet on Friday. “This was the place where I became the best version of myself, both personally and professionally. However, the time has come for me to begin a new chapter in my life.”
She went on to thank her former Sportscenter co-host Michael Smith as well as a number of her other colleagues at the Worldwide Leader.
Hill also singled out one of her producers in particular and shared her work.

“Jemele is an exceptionally talented writer, storyteller, host and commentator whose unique voice has made ESPN’s many platforms better over the last 12 years,” said ESPN’s executive vice president of content Connor Schell.
Now free of the constraints of being paid by a Disney-owned company, Hill didn’t waste any time going after one of her detractors on Twitter.
