Ed Henry, co-anchor of the morning show “America’s Newsroom” on Fox News, has been fired from the network following a sexual misconduct allegation, CNN reported.
“On Thursday, June 25, we received a complaint about Ed Henry from a former employee’s attorney involving willful sexual misconduct in the workplace years ago,” Fox News chief executive Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace wrote in an email to employees Wednesday. Henry was reportedly suspended and removed from his on-air responsibilities the same day.
“Based on investigative findings, Ed has been terminated,” said Scott and Wallace, adding that Henry’s role would be filled by “rotating anchors” until a permanent replace is named.
“Fox News Media strictly prohibits all forms of sexual harassment, misconduct, and discrimination,” Scott and Wallace said. “We will continue striving to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace for all employees.”
Henry’s attorney, Catherine Foti, says the former anchor denies the allegations. “Ed Henry denies the allegations referenced in the Fox announcement and is confident that he will be vindicated after a full hearing in an appropriate forum,” Foti said Wednesday.
Henry had been at Fox News since 2011, following seven years at CNN. The anchor was sidelined in 2016 after a tabloid story ran about an extramarital affair, for which Henry was publicly rebuked by then-CEO Roger Ailes. “This raises serious questions about Ed’s lack of judgment, especially given his position as a journalist,” said Ailes, who left the network in disgrace mere months later after he was accused of sexual misconduct by several women.
Henry’s swift dismissal from the network follows other sexual misconduct scandals at Fox News as well, including allegations that led to Bill O’Reilly’s departure.
According to CNN, Scott and Wallace have said the network is attempting to clean up its image in light of the recent scandals.
