The city of Los Angeles just stepped up Southern California’s ongoing war on influencer pandemic parties, shutting off the power at YouTuber Bryce Hall’s Hollywood Hills home after the influencer hosted a birthday party of more than 100 guests.
New York Times‘ internet culture reporter Taylor Lorenz first tweeted about the power shut-off Wednesday night, noting that the power was cut at Hall’s personal home — known as the “Sway House,” which he shares with fellow influencers Noah Beck and Blake Grey — rather than at the residence where the party was actually held.
The shut-off reportedly follows a warning issued at Hall’s residence earlier this month after another large gathering.
“Despite several warnings, this house has turned into a nightclub in the hills, hosting large gatherings in flagrant violation of our public health orders,” L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said in a statement Wednesday.
“The City has now disconnected utilities at this home to stop these parties that endanger our community.”

The Sway House power cut represents officials’ latest attempt to curb the pandemic-era partying taking place among young stars and influencers in SoCal. Back in July, YouTuber Jake Paul received some vague threats from Calabasas Mayor Alicia Weintraub after hosting a giant party, but evidence of similarly negligent parties attended by fellow influencers has continued to surface regularly throughout the summer.
While authorities may finally be starting to crack down on these large gatherings, the stars behind the soirees seem relatively unfazed. Earlier this month, YouTuber Thomas Petrou told Lorenz the parties weren’t going anywhere.
“Our jobs are to entertain people,” he said. “We can’t put our entire lives on hold for a year and not make any money.”
Meanwhile, Hall responded to the recent power cut by simply flipping off the haters on TikTok, as well as posting another video in which he and fellow Sway House resident Blake Grey can be seen bopping their heads to Børns’ “Electric Love,” apparently unbothered.
