On Friday morning, KEXP’s John Richards took to Twitter to share an adorable request from a listener named Bill.
“My eight-year-old son Liam and I enjoy listening to the KEXP Morning Show,” Bill wrote. “The other day he called me into room to surprise me with a Waterboys LEGO concert he had created. Any chance you can play a song for my little man, ‘This is the Sea’?”
Richards also shared a photo of the young Waterboys fan’s LEGO creation, which features a stage, some parked cars, a hand-drawn “The Waterboys” sign and of course, plenty of LEGO fans gathered to watch the band play. (You will probably also notice that they are not observing the recommended six feet of social distancing, tsk, tsk.)

But eight-year-old Liam and his dad got something better than “This is the Sea”: Waterboys frontman Mike Scott caught wind of the request, and just a little over an hour after Richards posted his tweet, Scott responded with a short new song for them. Naturally, it’s called “LEGOBOYS,” and the lyrics are simple but catchy: “Oh LEGO boy, LEGO LEGO boy, oh LEGO boy, LEGO LEGO boy. We are the LEGO boys.” Check it out for yourself below.
