The Trump administration has publicly acknowledged that North Korea was responsible for the WannaCry computer worm. The worm hit more than 230,000 computers in more than 150 countries earlier this year. The U.S. is now calling on “all responsible states” to counter North Korea’s ability to conduct cyber attacks. Plus, the administration wants the states to implement all “relevant” United Nations Security Council sanctions, according to a source that spoke to The Washington Post. North Korea was widely suspected of creating the virus, but this is the first time the U.S. has publicly stated as much. The attack hit critical sectors including health and follows a pattern of disruptive and harmful cyberactivity by North Korea.
