A woman has come forward accusing Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller of hitting and sexually assaulting her while in college. The accusations were addressed by a student court at George Washington University and have been talked about in Hollywood and comedy circles for years. The Daily Beast spoke to five GW contemporaries and numerous associates of both hers (who wanted to remain anonymous, so The Daily Beast calls her Sarah within the piece) and Miller. According to Sarah’s account, Miller shook her violently and punched her in the mouth during sex. She woke up the next morning with a fractured tooth and bloodied lip. She continued to see Miller, and he again allegedly turned violent. He started choking her and penetrated her without her consent, including once with a beer bottle. Sarah’s former roommates confirm that they heard “banging, loud and violent sounds” coming from Sarah’s room while Miller was over, and the next morning, they say they remember seeing bruises on her. Matt Lord is an ex-boyfriend of Sarah’s, and currently an attorney in Massachusetts. He wrote a letter to The Daily Beast, saying Sarah told him about the assault by Miller, and he remembers her going to student conduct proceedings regarding the sexual assault.

For his part, Miller has occasionally made light of the lingering allegations and has privately joked about committing violence against a woman in his past, according to three sources in the comedy world. He has also told his friends over the years that he was wrongfully accused, and in a statement to The Daily Beast, denied any wrongdoing, saying instead he and his wife, Kate, are the victims.
