A man in Colorado is saying that his long-on-top, buzzed-on-the-sides haircut got him mistaken for a neo-Nazi and nearly stabbed to death.
Joshua Witt, 26, escaped with a slice to his hand and three stitches, according to the NY Post.
“Apparently, my haircut is considered a neo-Nazi statement,” he told The NY Post Saturday.
Witt told the Post that he pulled into the parking lot of the Steak n’ Shake in Sheridan, Colorado. He was opening his door when someone walked up to him.
“All I hear is, ‘Are you one of them neo-Nazis?’ as this dude is swinging a knife up over my car door at me,” he said to the NY Post.
Witt says he threw up his hands and after getting stabbed, dove back into his car and shut the door.
The man then ran off west, behind his car, Witt said. He has no tattoos or regalia that would mark him as a racist, the man claims, and the NY Post writes he is “avowedly not a ne0-Nazi.”
He is now considering changing his haircut.
A week ago, white supremacists, neo-Nazis and KKK members met in Charlottesville, Va. to protest the removal of the statue of confederate general Robert E. Lee. The rally turned violent, leaving one young woman and two officers dead, sparking counter-protests nationwide.
