In order to get Kendall Jenner to step out of her carefully manicured public persona, Elle Magazine enlisted singer Lana Del Rey for a joint interview — naturally, over the phone from different corners of the world.
Jenner, 22, and Del Rey, 32, met four years ago at the Kim Kardashian-Kanye West rehearsal dinner at the Palace of Versailles. The crooner performed a surprise set as a gift to the bride, but Jenner may have been the biggest fan girl in the (very large) room. They went on to become friends.
One of the topics was Kendall’s recent admission that she battles anxiety — something she has in common with her older friend.
“It’s interesting; ever since I said something about being anxious, a lot of people in the spotlight have come to me, being like, ‘Oh my God, me too!’,” Jenner said. “There’s this community. I take what they do to help themselves and piece it together to find what helps me.”
The conversation drifted to social media. Del Rey avoids getting too personal, but Jenner has no choice: it’s part of her brand. “It’s nice to be able to say, Do I wanna share this? Usually in my life, I don’t really get a choice, especially with paparazzi,” said Jenner.
