Fans of Jeopardy champion James Holzhauer are still debating whether their beloved game show contestant is capable of making human error.
Holzhauer broke Jeopardy records with 32 straight victories, securing nearly 2.5 million in winnings. But his streak came to an end on June 3rd, when he lost to University of Chicago librarian Emma Boettcher. Fans came up with all kinds of conspiracy theories as to why Holzhauer, a Las Vegas-based professional gambler, would have incorrectly bet during the Final Jeopardy round and purposely throw the game, with many believing he missed his 4-year old daughter.
Those conspiracy theories have reemerged after Holzhauer tweeted about 29-year-old Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck who suddenly announced his retirement on Saturday.
“I hope to be as brave as Andrew Luck one day,” tweeted Holzhauer. “Imagine reaching the pinnacle of the only job you’ve ever trained for, finding no joy in it and having the guts to do the right thing for yourself even though millions of fans will hate you for it.”
Fans began speculating if Holzhauer was actually talking about himself, hinting that he lost on purpose for his own mental health and well being.

Still, Holzhauer’s Twitter is full of self-deprecating jokes about his own loss and has already publically defended his losing wager, so who knows, and honestly who cares. But if you do, you can watch Holzhauer win even more money on Jeopardy Tournament of Champions from November 4 to 15.
