Elon Musk is not joking when he talks about putting a red Tesla into a rocket ship and fire it to Mars this January. He even has a playlist for the launch: David Bowie on repeat. The billionaire tweeted about his plan this weekend.
Payload will be my midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing Space Oddity. Destination is Mars orbit. Will be in deep space for a billion years or so if it doesn’t blow up on ascent.

The SpaceX launch that will take place in January will also mark a coming out for the Falcon Heavy. It is an extremely powerful rocket that has been in development for years.
