Australia was slammed by Cyclone Debbie this week. And with the extreme weather, came some oddities.
The country’ southeast was drenched in more than a foot of rainfall. 52,000 were left without power in Queensland, The Guardian reports.
The floodwaters also brought a few unexpected guests. In the town of Ayr, the waters receded to reveal a bull shark on the side of the road, Mashable reports.
The Queensland Fire Department tweeted out photos (below) of the beached predator as a warning for those to stay out of the floodwaters. “Think it’s safe to go back in the water? Think again!” the tweet read.
That is not all that unusual for Australia. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, two sharks were spotted swimming in the floodwaters in Goodna, a Brisbane suburb, in 2011.
In classic Aussie fashion, though, a few rough and tumble surfers weren’t scared off by the overflow (below).
