A new Chrome extension may help employees shirk overly-friendly or disruptive colleagues without offending them.
“Nope” is an add-on to Google’s web browser that makes a fake phone call to a user’s work phone, giving them an excuse to politely end a an unwanted office conversation.
Just download the extension and share the work phone’s number with “Nope” to set it up. The next time a colleague interrupts a user’s workflow, they just click the green “Nope” button in the upper-right corner of their screen and take the phony call.
According to Mashable, “Nope” guides its users through the fake call, prompting them to act as if they’ve just received bad news. If that doesn’t do the trick, listeners are told to act concerned and given a line to repeat, such as, “Yes, of course, I can talk now—what’s the matter?”
For good measure, Breather, the company behind the extension, suggests looking “extra apologetic” to sell the con.
