On Tuesday night, Brooke Shields told talk-show host Andy Cohen that she received a phone call from Donald Trump in 1992 asking her out. She said has no regrets about turning him down.
Shields said that Trump made the call after he got divorced from his second wife, Marla Maples, Vanity Fair reports. She was on location for a movie and he called her and said, “I really think we should date, because you’re America’s sweetheart and I’m America’s richest man, and the people would love it,” reports Vanity Fair.
She responded by saying she had a boyfriend who wouldn’t be happy about it.
Shields is not the only celebrities to discuss cringe-worthy experiences with Trump. Salma Hayek told Trevor Noah on The Daily Show that the commander-in-chief asked her out when she was at an event with her boyfriend. Hayek said that Trump introduced himself and befriended her boyfriend, but then never talked to him again. Later, she got a call with a proposal to go on a date.
“Are you joking? You know I have a boyfriend,” she remembers saying, according to Vanity Fair. Trump responded that he wasn’t “good enough” for her, and that he’s “not important, he’s not big enough for you, you have to go out with me.”
