May of 1988 marked the first time Zoë Kravitz was involved — albeit indirectly — in a Rolling Stone cover shoot.
Seven months before Kravitz was born, her mother, Lisa Bonet, appeared nude except for a shirt on the cover of the magazine’s “Hot Issue.”
Like mother, like daughter.
To the delight of the internet, it was revealed in October that Kravitz would be recreating the nude shoot her mother did three decades ago to commemorate the music monthly’s 30th anniversary.
When the magazine came out in November, no one was complaining.
Now, a month later, Kravitz is celebrating another 30th anniversary: her birthday.
On December 1, Kravitz will turn the big 3-0. While doing her photo shoot for Rolling Stone, she talked about the prospect.
“Your twenties are fun, but they’re such a mess,” she told the publication. “Making mistakes, not knowing what you want, being a little bit of an asshole. I’m excited for my thirties, because I have a better sense of who I am and what my intention is with art and how to execute it. I’m sure I’ll make more mistakes. But that’s OK. We’re all beautiful messes.”
That may not be true for all of us, but it certainly is true for Kravitz as you’ll soon see.
In honor of her upcoming 30th, let’s check in on the type of beautiful mess Kravitz has been for the first 29, or at least the last couple, years of her life.
